1842—Pyotr Kropotkin, prince, anarchist, scholar, is born.

1836—The premiere of Mikhail Glinka’s “Life for the Tzar” (“Ivan Susanin”), the first Russian classical national opera.

1801—Darya Saltykova, also know as Saltychikha, a land-lady, is born.
She is mostly known for her cruelty towards her serfs. She tortures to death over a 100 peasants. She is arrested for her brutality and incarcerated in a convent cell, where she dies afterwards.
