Dates in History
1959—New type of Armed Forces is built in the USSR – Strategic Missile Troops .
In accordance with the president's decree this day is appointed as the Day of the Strategic Missile Troops.

1929—One of the oldest Moscow monasteries, Chudov Monastery, is blown up.
Later the House of Presidium of Supreme Soviet of the USSR is constructed on the site of the destroyed Monastery.

1928—Leonid Bronevoy, actor, national artist of the USSR, is born.
Bronevoy plays an exceptionally evil villain Gruppenfuhrer Mueller in Soviet TV series 17 Moments of Spring, his character is so popular among Russians that there are hundreds of jokes about him and his rival Shtirlitz, the main character of the film.
