1895—Sergey Yesenin, Russian lyrical poet, is born
Today his poems are being memorized by school children and many have been set to music, recorded as popular songs.

1762—Ekaterina II enthroned
Solemn ceremony of crowning in Uspensky Sobor of Moscow Kremlin took place. Ekaterina II remained Russian empress 34 years until death in 1796 and went down in history as Ekaterina the Great.
