Dates in History
1943—The Time chooses Joseph Stalin as Person of the Year 1942.

1934—Zurab Tsereteli, sculptor, is born.
Presently, many consider him to be the main Moscow sculptor. He is a close acquaintance of Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, and therefore he is asked to do most of the major sculptural projects in Moscow.

1834—Vasily Perov, painter, is born.
He is one of the founders of the Fellowship of Moveable Artistic Exhibitions, which is a society of painters who move their exhibitions from town to town. His most famous works include Troika and Hunters at Rest, portraits of Ostrovsky and Dostoevsky.
