1937—Boris Spassky, chess player, is born.
Boris Spassky is the 10th World Chess Champion.

1923—Leonid Gayday, film director, is born.
Leonid Gayday is Russia’s favorite director, people know his films by heart and quote them all the time. His most successful films include “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Occupation”, “The Diamond Arm”, “Operation Y and Other Shurik's Adventures”, and “Kidnapping Caucassian Style, or Shurik's New Adventures”, etc.

1872—Gleb Kotelnikov, inventor of the knapsack parachute, is born.
