His most successful films include Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Occupation, The Diamond Arm, Operation Y and Other Shurik's Adventures, and Kidnapping Caucassian Style, or Shurik's New Adventures, etc.

1872—Gleb Kotelnikov, inventor of the knapsack parachute, is born.
