19 January — Theophany, The Baptism of Our Lord (Orthodox Tradition)



The Russian Orthodox festival of Theophany, or the Baptism of Our Lord, is widely celebrated in the country. Girls and young women use the eve of Theophany for guessing their future husbands. The day on January 19th is marked by the world-known dips in the icy water, making the festival popular among belivers and healthy living enthusiasts alike.
