1803—First Russian round-the-world voyage starts
Famous Russian navigator Ivan Kruzenshtern with huis expedition sails from Kronshtadt at two ships "Neva" and "Nadezhda".This expedition made a valuable contribution to geography,defined location of some islands,made an ivestigation of sea waters,founf out the reason of sea glow,collected data of atmopsphere pressure.

1782—The Bronze Horseman (“Mednyi Vsadnik”) monument unveiled in Saint-Petersburg on Ploschad Dekabristov (Decembrists Square).
). The Bronze Horseman was a tribute by Catherine the Great to her predecessor on the Russian throne Peter I (the Great). The monument later became one of the city’s symbols after poet Alexander Pushkin called this sculpture in his immortal poem “Mednyi Vsadnik”.
