1762—Yekaterina II the Great, Russian Empress (17621796), is born.
Born as German Princess Sophia Augusta Frederika of Anhalt-Zerbst, she marries Russian Tzar Peter III, and after coup detat in 1762 she becomes Russian Empress and takes Russian name Yekaterina. She rules Russian Empire for almost thirty-five years (1762-1796). Already during her reign she is called The Great, and she truly is one of the finest Russian rulers.
