2007—Mstislav Rostropovich, a great Russian cellist and conductor, dies in Moscow at the age of 80
Rostropovich, also known as Slava, died after a long operation in a hospital of Moscow. Rostropovich is acknowledged to be the best musician of our time; his name is among the “forty immortal people” – honorary members of the Art Academy of France.

2007—Kirill Lavrov , a famous Russian and Soviet actor, passes away, aged 81

1918—The Soviet Government issues a decree canceling succession rights (the decree has an effect until 22 May 1922).
