1889—Alexander Vertinsky, singer, is born.
Alexander Vertinsky is famous for his exquisite intimate manner of performing, remarkable for variety of inflections, expressiveness of gestures. Vertinsky is a notable song-writer. He stars in several Soviet and French films. In 1951 he receives a National Prize of the USSR for his work.
