1861—Alexander II signs “Manifesto of abolition of the serfdom”.
The Manifesto grants peasants personal freedom. From this moment on landowners can’t buy, sell, give as a present, and resettle peasants as they wish. From this moment on peasants have right to have property, are free to marry at will, may conclude agreements, may acquire real estate for themselves, and may move wherever they wish.
