1953—The Case of the Saboteur Doctors is revealed. Nine leading doctors are accused of attempting to poison two Soviet important political figures Andrey Zhdanov and Alexander Shcherbakov. After Stalin’s death the Case of the Saboteur Doctors is declared a falsification, they all are rehabilitated. Although two of the arrested doctors die in the course of investigation. 
1940—Ends drifting of icebreaker Sedov, which lasted 812 days. | In October 1937 three icebreakers get trapped in ice in Laptev Sea, in August 1938 two of them are released from ice, but Sedov remains trapped until 1940. The ship travels 6100 kilometres until icebreaker Joseph Stalin releases it in Greenland Sea. While drifting the crew repairs the ship so that it is able to come to Murmansk on its own. All 15 members of the crew become Heroes of the Soviet Union.
1872—The Weather Service starts working in Russia. | The main physical observatory issues the first meteorological bulletin. 
1703—The first Russian newspaper Vedomosti comes out for the first time. | | |||
