A health and educational centre “Ebola” will be created in Moscw, its staff will tell the public about the prevention of dangerous diseases and develop cultural integration with the peoples of Africa. This was reported by the “Izvestia” newspaper with the reference to one of the project founders Aleksandr Loginov.
According to the World Health Organization, the number of victims of Ebola outbreak in West Africa has increased to almost 4.5 thousand people, about 9 thousand are infected. The head of the Ministry of Health Care of the RF Veronika Skvortsova said that there were no prerequisites for a disease outbreak in Russia. “Panic may rise among the population at the moment of the emergence of Ebola in Russia.
The prejudice towards the representatives of the African countries is already noticeable, and it will only get worse. Our task is to explain to people what Ebola is, how to avoid it, in order to prevent unreasonable panic” - Loginov told to the edition. According to him, the registration of the legal entity (the centre will be registered as a non-profit partnership) and the trademark is underway at the moment. The room for the centre was found at the “Park Kultury” metro station, but it is in need of repair. Loginov’s partner in the project is the Russified African Ivan Joy from Benin, who graduated from a medical university in Russia.
According to the newspaper, Joy will deal with the development of relationships with African countries in the “Ebola” centre. In addition, it is planned to cooperate with travel agencies organizing trips to the continent. At the same time, the idea of the centre establishment was treated skeptically by the head of the department of hematology and geriatrics of IPO of the Sechenov Moscow State Medical University Pavel Vorobiev. According to him, the problem of Ebola is overhyped now. According to the expert, the outbreak of disease is not possible in Russia thanks to the current measures, because the virus is not air-communicable.
