Moscow Aviation Institute

Moscow Aviation Institute (State University of Aerospace Technologies) offers teaching and scientific research at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels in modern engineering technologies and construction and design of various flying vehicles and aerospace systems for the aircraft and aerospace industry. Here you can obtain engineering education in full spectrum of aerospace specialties and pass an introductory pilot training at MAI airdrome (no pilot certification afterwards, sorry). Undergraduates have an opportunity for practicing in a broad range of professions: from shop steward to general designer.

Admission process and applying
Foreign applicants should send following documents to MAI International Services Office:

  • Application form;
  • Transcript of educational certificate with certified translation to Russian or English;
  • Copy of passport.

Each application is carefully reviewed to find out applicant's standard of education and abilities. Then MAI sends an official invitation to Russian Consulate in the country of applicant's permanent residence. This invitation allows the applicant to apply for the entrance visa.
The following documents are essential to enter Russia: To be matriculated to MAI the following documents are required:

  • a legalized original of your educational certificate (it means with a stamp of the Ministry of Education of your country and with one of the Russian Consulate) and its notarized translations into Russian (three copies);
  • a medical certificate and its notary attested translation into Russian which confirms that the applicant has no narcotism, tuberculosis, lepra, Chlamidia lymphogranuloma (venereal), syphilis, chancroid, hepatitis, a negative AIDS-test, and vaccination against hepatitis, mumps, diphtheria, measles;
  • Medical certificate including AIDS test: hepatitis, tuberculosis (fluorography control) tests and vaccination against hepatitis, mumps, diphtheria, measles;
  • 10 photos (3.54.5 cm)

To execute an official invitation the following documents and information are required:

  • A scanned copy of the first page of your passport (to be sent to our email: rus@mai.ru)
  • your private address, birth-place and telephone
  • the scheduled date of arrival
  • the city for your visa application (the nearest Russian Consulate in your country)

A duly executed invitation will be sent to your home address. This invitation enables you to apply for an entrance visa.

Schedule for Application and Programs:

Application period from April, 01 to June, 30
Admission letters from July, 01 to July, 31
Student arrivals from August, 20 to August, 25
Academic year duration from September, 01 to July, 01 (two semesters with two examinations)
Winter vacations from January, 24 to February, 06

No testing required for the Pre-School enrollment. After completion of the Pre-School, each student must pass Russian Language, Mathematics, Physics and Drawing examinations. Graduate or Post-graduate candidates must take required testing at the University.
