Tuition
The academic year at MSU starts in September and ends in June. The
year consists of two semesters: autumn semester (01.09-24.01) and spring semester
(07.02-30.06). The tuition for Bachelor degree (BSc/BA) lasts 8 semesters; Master
(MSc/MA) - 4 semesters; Doctor (PhD) - 6 semesters. All faculties provide full-time
tuition. Postgraduate studies can be either full-time, or part-time. All courses
are given in Russian. International applicants are supposed to take test of
Russian language or take courses of Russian at MSU Centre of International Studies.
If you are interested in particular course curriculum, please use websites of
the faculties. You can find list of websites at the Centre of International
Studies website at http://www.msu.ru/en/resources/msu-ws1.html.
Further information may be requested from international studies’ department
of the faculty you are applying to. If you need to take a course of Russian
language, please submit all application documents to the Centre of International
Studies.
Letter of Invitation
To get an invitation letter, please send following documents to international studies’ department of the chosen faculty:
- Application Form;
- Photocopy of first two pages of your passport.
You can submit documents through mail, fax or e-mail.
After your documents are approved, you are sent the invitation letter. Please
check details of how to get Russia visa in Russian Consulate in your country.
It takes about 75 days to receive the invitation letter, thus we recommend you
to send all required documents not later than 3 months, before the term begins.
Concluding the agreement
To conclude the agreement you should submit following documents to international studies department of the chosen faculty:
- Academic documentation with notarized translation into Russian.
- For Bachelor studies (BSc/BA): school-leaving certificate
- For Master studies (MSc/MA): Bachelor’s or Specialist’s degree certificate
- For Postgraduate studies (Candidate’s=PhD degree): Master’s or Bachelor’s certificate
- Transcript (document showing the subjects you have studied with grades you have received) with a notarized translation into Russian.
- Medical certificate and AIDS test result.
- The Centre of International Studies Certificate or certificate showing the results of your test of Russian language.
Russian translation of academic documents must be certified by Russian Embassy
or Consulate in your home country or notarized in Russia.
AIDS and other medical tests for medical certificate must be taken in one of
MSU clinics.
The Faculty, you’ve chosen, has a right to require additional information.
Applicants are enrolled according to entrance examinations’ results (interview,
test).
Your estimated expenses are:
1. Russian language and main subjects preparatory course in the CIS (September,
1st - June, 30th ) - check price list.
2. Faculty tuition fee - check price list.
3. Accommodation costs (a dormitory or MSU hotel) start from $65 per month (depending
on living conditions).
4. Cost of medical certificate and AIDS test - $50.
5. Health insurance or medical service contract - from $140.
6. Russian language test - $40 - $50.
7. Academic documents’ evaluation costs start from $40.
8. Russian translation of academic documents’ - $20 - $100.
International students are not eligible for scholarships.
International students can borrow books from University library free of charge.
