Only one night! For the 130th anniversary since the birth of Vaslav Nijinsky - dedication to the god of dance in Kremlin!
April 18, 2019, will see a grand ballet show - a dedication to the great dancer and choreographer of the 20th century, Vaslav Nijinsky - in the State Kremlin Palace. Discoveries and premieres for ballet lovers are guaranteed!
The audience will see three legendary ballets of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes (aka Russian Seasons) at once. These are going to be The Spirit of the Rose (Le Spectre de la rose), The Afternoon of a Faun, and Scheherazade restored by Andris Liepa.
Only Stars on the Kremlin Stage
The principal dancer of the Covent Garden Royal Theater Vadim Muntagirov and Daria Klimentova will perform the short ballet The Spirit of the Rose. The contemporaries of Vaslav Nijinsky made legends about this performance, whereas his final jumps, when he would fly over half the stage, hang in the air and then disappeared, couldn’t help but enrapture the audience.
The scandalous masterpiece The Afternoon of a Faun that was staged by Vaslav Nijinsky as a choreographer and launched the beginning of all modern choreography will be performed by Patrick de Bana. The world-famous dancer and choreographer, ex-principal dancer of Maurice Bejart’s troupe will perform this piece together with outstanding Russian ballerina Ilze Liepa.
For the first time in Moscow, the Ballet of the “Astana Opera” State Opera and Ballet Theater under the direction of the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Altynai Asylmuratova will present the captivating oriental tale Scheherazade with the restored scenery and costumes designed by Leo Bakst.
The Golden Slave part will be young performed by virtuoso Bakhtiyar Adamjan, the winner of the XIII International Ballet and Choreography Contest in Moscow. Ballet critics and the public all over the world fully appreciated the “magnificent flights by the principal dancer of Astana Opera, which, in the most incredible jumps, keeps the exemplary academicism of shape”. The part of Zobeida will be danced by a young soloist of the theater, a sophisticated oriental beauty, Anastasia Zaklinskaya.

Julia Makhalina (the Mariinsky Theater),
Tatiana Melnik (the Hungarian State Opera House),
Eleonora Sevenard (the Bolshoi Theater of Russia),
Brooklyn Mack (Washington Ballet),
Xander Parish (the Mariinsky Theater),
Denis Rodkin (the Bolshoi Theater of Russia).
The star dancers will perform fragments from the ballets The Rite of Spring, Petrushka, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Talisman, and others.
The colorful multimedia design of the event based on exquisite paintings by Leo Bakst, Alexandre Benoit, Nicholas Roerich and rare documentary shots will plunge the audience into the atmosphere of Paris in the early 20th century, when all of Europe was crazed about the Russian Seasons (Ballets Russes) and the bright star of Vaslav Nijinsky.
