It is a new Moscow modern art venue with big ambitions. The Sokol Modern Art Center is the first functioning site of conglomerate for creative youth and art lovers. The center is situated in the northwest of Moscow, the area still keeping the creative atmosphere of the pre-war epoch and a lot of history around it. This powerful energy is expected to be imbibed by young artists, whom the Sokol is aimed to work with and promote. Here young artists and curators will be given an opportunity to hold exhibitions, discussions, lectures, conferences, and master classes. The modern art centre will bring together both Russian and foreign creative youth.
One more distinctive feature of the Sokol center is that its activity goes far beyond the framework of art community. One of its purposes is “to bring art out to the masses”.
Basic needs of a modern artist include an art studio, a chance to display the works created and discuss them with colleagues and the audience. Thus the Sokol centre is such a non-profit organization that sets the task of providing young artists with all the above mentioned basic conditions required for creative work.
The Sokol is to become a unique space that offers an alternative to the approaches within the art context in Moscow. Unlike other institutions it is first of all is aimed at the art process in all its fullness - from creating the works of art to exhibiting them, instead of exhibition activity only.
The Sokol modern art centre is hoped to become a venue for self-expression of young Russian and international artists and curators, including exhibitions, conferences, discussions, lectures and master classes. Its activities will promote further development of the dialogue between the people of art and the society.
Open hours: from 12 am to 8 pm on all days except Monday and Tuesday.
