The Laboratory has opened up new possibilities for modern artists and scientists and become the centre for implementing their joint projects.
Laboratoria Art & Science Space is Russia's first noncommercial research center, which focuses on creating platforms for interdisciplinary interaction of modern art and science. It was conceived as a space for establishing a new type of relationship between art, science and society and redirecting various forms and types of creative energy. It is a venue for meetings, discussions, round tables and master classes of scientists, artists and all those interested in shaping the Russian and international Science Art community.
In 2008 Darya Parkhomenko founded Russia’s first independent commercial center specializing in close interrelation of science and modern art. It opened up new possibilities and prospects for artists and scientists. Creative persons here try to find answers to the most difficult scientific questions by means of art. The synthesis of scientific and creative ideas has made it possible to implement earlier inconceivable projects.
Laboratoria Art&Science Space works in close contact with one of the oldest chemical research centers in Russia – the Karpov Physics and Chemistry Research Institute.
The center does not only demonstrate pilot projects visualizing the contacts of actual art and science, but also holds lectures, discussions, round tables and master classes. It is a self-development hub of independent international Art&Science space.
Its activities have three directions:
1. Debates — Lab Club
2. Presentations — Lab Expo, A to S Practices
3. Informatives — A&S Context, Lab Info
The Laboratoria Art & Science Space is located in the building of the Karpov Physics and Chemistry Research Institute at the address 3, Obukha Lane near the Kurskaya, Kitay-Gorod, and Chkalovskaya metro stations.
Open hours: from 2 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
