Information and educational center of “The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” opened another branch in Kogalym. On July 11-th, 2013 there was an opening of Information and educational center of “The Russian Museum: the Virtual Branch” in Kogalym town of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

“Exhibition center” of Kogalym functions since July 1, 2011. It appeared after unification of Museum of local lore and Museum of Visual Arts. Stationary exhibition is a combination of rare collections, advanced multimedia technologies and genuine design solutions. The open-air exhibition reveals unique scenes of North: glowing aurora borealis, rich nature and as symbols of pioneer explorers of Northern territories: the boat of Ermak, a real rail car and oil prospectors’ tent. 

The museum is equipped with modern multimedia that makes possible not only visiting the past, but also taking a look at the future. There is “Trans Force” interactive programs hall; a cinema theater with an opportunity to watch 5D stereoscopic films with dynamic, moving platform and special effects; a screen with living 3D markers, allowing to build a virtual oil field and a whole city; the hall of entertaining science where is possible to check how physic laws work and to carry out an experiment on your own. Trainings on different fields take place in the museum daily: painting, appliqué and sculpture. 

At present day, 122 “The Russian Museum: The Virtual Branch” information and educational centers work in Russia, abroad and even in Antarctica. The Kogalym branch becomes a 123-d one. 

Operating hours are: 10:00 to 18:00 from Wednesday to Sunday.
