Oddly enough, the official HISTORY of RUSSIA starts only from the year 882, shortly before the Christening of Rus’ in 988. Though some traces of richer Slavic past are left, the facts have been buried, seemingly purposefully, under centuries of Orthodox culture. Rich in upheavals, the history of this country was somewhat rewritten by every new power. So, the subject is vague and complicated.
