First three Photobiennale-2014 exhibitions opened in the Multimedia Art Museum: the retrospective of the famous fashion photographer Erwin Blumenfeld is accompanied by the 60s series of Garry Winogrand "Women are beautiful" and the visual almanac titled "Another London."


"I want to be à cosmonaut!" interactive exhibition, where children and adults can go through all the stages of the orbital flight, opened at the Moscow Planetarium. The project is implemented in collaboration with the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center as one of the events dedicated to 85th anniversary of the Planetarium.


Any cultural institution or non-profit organization that implements its project in cities with a population of less than 50 thousand people, or in the countryside, can apply in the period from February 15 to April 16, 2014 for a grant of 150 to 700 thousand rubles.


Russia and France are creating a fund for the development of cultural and scientific cooperation. The first joint project of the fund – the exhibition "Elsa Triolet and jeweleries" – will be launched in Villefranche-sur-Mer.


A festival of metal work took place in Kaluga Oblast. The second festival of metal work “ArchKuznitsa” was held on the territory of the art park Nikola-Lenivets (Lazy Nikola) in the village of Zvizzhi in the Fur Arcade. The festival was dedicated to “Russian Cosmism”.


From 12 to 22 September, 2013 Moscow Photographic Salon will take place in the Gallery of Classical Photography. It is the only event in Russia that each year brings together all players of photographic market such as galleries, foundations and private collections. This Salon is a Russian equivalent of the world's largest photographic fairs. Masterpieces of world photography from the largest Russian collections will be displayed in the same location.


International Military History Festival "Borodino Day" dedicated to 201-st anniversary of the Battle of Borodino will be held on September 1, 2013. Every year, on the first Sunday of September the anniversary of the Battle of Borodino is celebrated on a large scale at Borodino Field.


The central exhibition hall of "Manezh" will feature approximately 30 works that will be created specifically for this venue by such artists as Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, Alexander Brodsky, David Claerbout, Valeria Koshlyakov, Alia Sayed and Jon Friedman. Most of the works will be shown in Russia for the first time. The main project topic sounds like "More Light".


A large exhibition project “The Great Ball” opened in Tsaritsyno State museum. For public, the ball is represented as a special phenomenon in the history of Russian upper class society of 18th-20th centuries with an established culture of strictly regulated ceremonial, music and dances, special behavior and unique ball fashion. Exhibition features the most fascinating images of past ages and the most interesting episodes of 300 year-long period of Russian history, including ball appearance on the stage and in 20th century cinema.


The 9-th All-Russian festival of military history clubs, dedicated to Cossacks sieged in Azov in 1641 will be held on August 3, 2013 in Azov, the Rostov Region. Every year the festival gathers military history club members from different Russian and Ukrainian cities. The audience is attracted by traditional show of military history clubs, reconstruction of Azov fortress assault, sable tournament, traditional Russian martial art combats, folk bands performances and Don souvenirs fair.


“Summer in Kolomenskoye”, a unique festival of brass band music started in July in Moscow. Every Saturday at 4 p.m. brass bands start playing in front of the palace of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich. Here we introduce you their program for August.

Part II” is a part of the project dedicated to the city life covering last 100 years. 50 authoritative masters of genre, street-photo, urban, architecture and reportage photography – Naum Granovsky, Nicolay Rakhmanov, Igor Zotin, Nina Sviridova, Dmitry Vozdvizhensky, Yuri Abramochkin and many others – showcase 250 artworks on the one stage. Their pictures taken at different times and from different angles reflect our city’s life.


The Krasnopresnenskiy sugar factory will accommodate the very first in Russia approved stage for street artists and graffiti writers. “Graffiti Aid” service is launched as a part of the “Best City in the World” festival.


The exhibition of cotton shawls of late XIX - early XX centuries will be opened on July 5, 2013 in Presentation and Exhibition Center Museum-Reservation "Kizhi", Petrozavodsk. The exhibition introduces one of the most significant Russian models of cotton kerchiefs of late nineteenth - early twentieth century from the collection of the Sergiev Posad State History and Art Museum-Reservation.


Alexander Benois is a great artist, and his works are nor forgotten. Melancholic portraits from "Versailles Series”, scenography of Diaghilev's performances "Le Pavillon d'Armide", "Petrushka" and “Solovei” are quite easily recognizable, but there are tens of works, familiar only to collectors. The greatest sensation of the exhibition "100 works by Alexander Benois" in the gallery "Our artists" was the presentation of recently acquired artist’s notebooks belonging to 1924-1950 years.


Animal art exhibition - “Bestiary 2013” opens on July 2, 2013 in Moscow Darwin Museum. Visitors will see very unusual animals: there are animals and birds, fish and insects, octopuses and jellyfish made of stone, wood, bronze, porcelain in the halls.
