Participants of the main section of 5th Moscow Biennale have been announced. The main section of the 5th Moscow Biennale features more than 70 artists and art groups from around the globe.
The central exhibition hall of "Manezh" will feature approximately 30 works that will be created specifically for this venue by such artists as Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, Alexander Brodsky, David Claerbout, Valeria Koshlyakov, Alia Sayed and Jon Friedman. Most of the works will be shown in Russia for the first time.
The main project topic sounds like "More Light". It was defined by biennale curator Catherine de Zegher, director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent. In her view, the exhibition "focuses on enlightened dialogue, sensible action and searches of new ways to mutual understanding between organization, artist and viewer”. She also noted that the show will affect social processes and could be able to reflect the current situation in the world visually.
As part of the International Forum of Contemporary Art about 60 exhibitions will be held on 40 stages including the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Museum of Modern Art and “Garage” Center for Contemporary Culture.
Biennale will be held from September 19 to October 20.
