The great transmigration of peoples-2?

Some scientists and journalists express an opinion that the contemporary Europe and North America are living out a process, comparable with the great transmigration of the peoples, which became one of the most considerable factors, which ruined the Roman Empire. Others suppose that the genesis and character of contemporary migrations to the west differs from the situation with the ancient Rome. Both opinions are worth to be mentioned, but I am inclined to share the first one because of some reasons.

First of all, the flow of the immigrants from the East and South to the West is obvious. Its scale finds the only one analogy in the history, and it is the great transmigration of peoples. But one can argue that the migration of the Germanic folks of the first centuries had a military character. From another hand, the conquest of the country doesnt mean the military invasion only. The face of the western countries is seriously affected by the migrants. The domestic policy of them depends on the interests of the immigrants more and more, because they are a considerable part of the society, moreover, they dont want to integrate into the culture of Germany, France, USA, etc. For example, there are some suggestions to learn the Islamic ethic at school in Germany. I suppose it is like a victory in the latent war. The winners dictate the terms.

Secondly, the reasons, caused there flows of migration are similar comparable: the ecological troubles and over-population. In both cases the ecological troubles were caused by the natural and anthropogenic factors. But there is one more factor, and it its character is specifically contemporary: the expansion covers also the intellectual life of the western countries. The American and European universities are full of students from India and China, and from Russia as well, and they succeed in their studies. Their goal is to realize their abilities and they come, because their motherlands have no possibility to provide them a full self-realization. We know some barbarian Roman emperors, but neither philosophers nor scientists.

Thirdly, the Asian countries were influenced by the western culture and some achievements of the western science and medicine. The cultural expansion took place as well, especially in the area of the communication: the English language became the international one, and many people in India use the Latin alphabet foe communication in their native languages, instead of the traditional letters. The same took place in the far Roman provinces: the Latin, Roman law, the specific architecture and aqueducts. But those peoples, who conquered the Rome, were the young ones, and they didnt know Latin, were satisfied with their common law and didnt find water supply systems essential. Moreover, the considerable part of Moslems, living in the European cities now, is not interested in studying European languages and has other conceptualizations towards the human rights etc. However, it should be remembered that religion is not the reason for that. There are some Moslem peoples, whose life style doesnt distinguish from the European, and it doesnt disturb their identity.

Finally, the process has an irreversible character and will lead to annihilation or considerable changes in the face of the western countries. It has already leaded. Maybe they will not be so destructive, because we have several Romes, moreover, there are some countries, which produce migrants to the West and accept migrants from the East at the same time, for example, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine.

All in all, Im inclined to agree with the first opinion, which was firstly spoken by Umberto Eco. Maybe the analogy with the antiquity can seem to be on purpose, but the similar processes are going on in the new historical circumstances and they are already irreversible, if we like it or not. The consequences partly depend on the western countries. It is impossible to stop the migration, but the choice exists: the full annihilation with the formation of the Arab, Turkish and Chinese countries on the territory of the former Europe and Russia, the war for the cultural identity, something new and unexpected game-changing level of the synthesis of cultures on the background of the new ideology, or even religion. The script like the first took place in the Western part of the Roman Empire, the third in the Eastern one, called later Byzantine Empire. I hope Ill see the final.
