Rosselkhoznadzor is concerned about the quality of products supplied to Russian schools, hospitals, maternity hospitals and institutions for elderly care.
The official representative of the agency, Julia Melano, said that for half a year of monitoring in social institutions, "depressing figures for the amount of falsification" were received. The service decided not to make public the specific data. According to Melano, first of all the dairy products are adulterated, and moreover there are also many claims to the quality of meat and cereals.
Rosselkhoznadzor supposes that the reason for it is the imperfection of the public procurement system as it does not allow the suppliers of quality products winning the tender. The agency appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly Service with a proposal to change the procurement system, however, the proposals were considered inappropriate in the FAS. Rosselkhoznadzor also reported on the problem to Rospotrebnadzor and asked to withdraw the poor-quality products from circulation.
