Since the beginning of the year Russia's external debt increased by 1.2 percent, which is equivalent to 6.1 billion US dollars. This is reported in a press release of the Central Bank. Thus, the country's debt to foreign creditors reached 524.9 billion US dollars.
At the same time, the Central Bank clarifies that the external debt of the private sector has not changed much. According to the regulator the reason for growth is the increase in liabilities after the placement of sovereign debt securities and management of international reserves. The national debt of the country consists of external and internal debts.
At the end of January, the Ministry of Finance reported on the increase in domestic state debt of Russia. During the year it has grown by 1.146 trillion rubles (by 18.8 percent). April 10, it became known that the USA Congress is preparing a package of sanctions against the state debt and state banks of Russia. The bill provides for the introduction of absolute prohibition for American individuals and legal entities on any transactions with the Russian national debt.
