The employees of Sberbank are engaged in the mining of crypto-currency in the workplace, said the Chairman of the board of the bank, German Gref. "We often catch our employees who are engaged in mining using our equipment," Gref said, adding that he personally does not care about the extraction of crypto-currency because it is a "primitive business."
According to the head of Sberbank, he can name "a dozen objects of investment with greater profitability." In November 2017, the bank admitted to the massive purchase of video cards for the laboratory of artificial intelligence, which, according to the organization, led to a shortage of equipment.
Last summer Russian electronics stores recorded a shortage of video cards because of the growing popularity of mining. Gref has repeatedly said that he has "some amount of bitcoins", but this is not an investment for the purpose of earning, but rather an experiment.
