According to the preliminary data of Rosstat, in 2017 the minimal inflation was recorded for the entire recent history of Russia. It made 2.5 percent. This is reported on the agency's website.
In December the inflation was 0.4 percent, compared to the previous month (in November and October it was 0.2 percent).
In September and August, deflation of 0.1 and 0.5 percent was observed. Low inflation rates are observed against the backdrop of the moderately tight policy of the Central Bank and the decline in incomes of Russians, which are going down for the fourth consecutive year.
In January-November 2017, the population's incomes in real terms decreased by 1.4 percent. In 2016, they fell by 5.8 percent; in 2015 - by 3.2 percent, in 2014 - by 0.7 percent. Earlier, the Central Bank predicted that inflation in Russia in 2017 would not exceed 3 percent, and in the first half of 2018, it would rise slightly, remaining at the same time close to the target value of 4 percent. In 2016, the inflation rate was 5.4 percent; in 2015 - 12.9 percent and in 2014 - 11.4 percent.
