Forbes magazine has recognized the founder of Alfa Group and the co-owner of “LetterOne” Luxembourg holding, billionaire Mikhail Fridman, a businessman of the year in Russia. “Mikhail Fridman has invested more than five billion dollars in foreign companies - a record amount for Russian businessmen in 2017” - the newspaper writes.
In 2017 “LetterOne” Holding purchased “Holland & Barrett’s” English healthy food network for $ 2.3 billion and invested $ 3 billion in the new fund of “Pamplona Capital Management” company. Friedman is the first man chosen by Forbes as the businessman of the year for the second time.
Five years ago the billionaire received such an honor as the key organizer of the deal on the sale of a half of the shares of TNK-BP to Rosneft for $ 28 billion. Forbes estimates the wealth of Friedman at 14.4 billion dollars. Back in 1991 the businessman founded “Alfa Bank” which became one of the largest commercial banks in Russia.
