Rosatom Uranium One Opened a Trading Company In the Swiss City Of Zug

Subsidiary of state corporation, Rosatom Uranium One, has opened a trading company - Uranium One Trading AG - in the Swiss city of Zug. This was said in a statement of the company.

It is noted that the main purpose for creating a trading company is to increase the share in the international market of natural uranium through short- and medium-term transactions. "The competition in the field of long-term contracts on the part of traders is growing in the world uranium market," said Vasily Konstantinov, President of Uranium-One Group.

According to him, this happened due to the fact that many world energy companies have expanded the lists of potential suppliers, traditionally consisted only of uranium producers, due to trading companies. State Corporation – Rosatom – in 2010 bought a controlling stake of Uranium One for $ 640 million. First, the US authorities opposed the deal, fearing that the Russian party would gain control over 20 percent of the US uranium production capacity, but subsequently the deal was approved.
