During the second quarter of this year the imports of plastic toys in Russia increased by 32 percent compared to the same period last year, up to 68.8 million units. In total, the country imported such goods for 24.8 million US dollars.
According to the president of the Association of Enterprises of Kid’s Goods Industry Antonina Tsitsulina, the dynamics of imports was influenced, among other things, by the spinners, a ball bearing around whith three or more petals spin. "Because of the difference in rates for past two years, there has been a decline in imports - they ordered toys at a minimum. Now the ruble has strengthened, and the market has revived. In addition, there is a fashionable toy that had not existed before. Spinners are cheap and lightweight products, and in quantity they are bought a lot," she told the newspaper.
However, the popularity of toys, according to Tsitsulina, is already falling. According to the research by Aliexpress and Yandex.Money, referenced by the publication, the "spinner" is still the most popular request from Russian Internet shop users. However, in August this toy was searched 70 percent less than in the middle of summer.
