The “McDonald’s” chain of restaurants in Siberia will be greatly extended through the implementation of the first major franchising project in Russia by the company. According to the newspaper, “McDonald’s” has signed a franchise agreement with the structures of Kemerovo “Inrusinvest” OJSC owned by Aleksandr Govor.
According to the Director of “Inrusinvest” Evgenii Zenin, “McDonald’s” restaurants will appear in Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Tomsk and Altai regions. The first restaurant will open in Novokuznetsk in September. Another restaurant will appear in Novokusnetsk by the end of 2015, in addition, the restaurants will open in Kemerovo and Tomsk. In 2016 it is planned to open seven more “McDonald’s” restaurants: three in Novosibirsk, two in Barnaul, one in Berdsk and one in Kemerovo.
A total of 20 franchised restaurants are to be open within the frame of partnership with “Inrusinvest”. The company has estimated the volume of investments into the project at three billion roubles.
There are 517 “McDonald’s” restaurants in Russia now, at the same time, according to the information posted on the website, the restaurants of this network on the other side of the Ural Mountains can be found only in Tyumen, Surgut, Omsk and Novosibirsk.
Earlier the corporation announced its intention to open 50 restaurants in Russia every year. 73 new restaurants of the chain appeared in Russia in 2014. In August 2014 the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare suspended the work of three “McDonald’s” restaurants for 90 days following the results of an inspection, because of non-compliance with the sanitary legislation. Another restaurant of the chain was temporarily closed in May 2015.
In August 2015 “McDonald’s” has been fined for a number of violations found during an inspection of the restaurant in Moscow.
